Hot-dip galvanized scaffolding chain from FRAM was developed for use in the offshore industry, and the technical specification was established in collaboration with Equinor (formerly StatoilHydro).
The specification sets strict requirements for materials, manufacturing, mechanical verification, and documentation. These requirements reduce the risk of stress corrosion cracking, particularly hydrogen-induced stress corrosion caused by hydrogen embrittlement.
All chain links are proof loaded, and in addition, samples from each production batch undergo destructive testing and analysis to verify the following properties:
- Chemical composition
- Yield and tensile strength
- Hardness
- Ductility
